JUSTICE DENIED, CRIMINALS AT LARGE

The regime of Meles Zenawi has summarily executed very many innocent citizens and the criminals responsible for the murders have yet to be brought before a proper court of law. To fight against forgetfulness, SOCEPP presents again the case of the innocent Ethiopians murdered by the regime whose blood is still crying for justice.

 1. Major Alemayehu Haile: resident of keftegna 21, Kebelle 32, Addis Abeba, a 40 years old father of 4 children, was picked up from his home by the government security agents in the evening of January 27/1993, tortured and his mutilated corpse was found at the mortuary of the Menelik Hospital.

 2. Teacher Sisaye Getnet: resident of Nifas Mewcha (South Gondar),Kebelle 02 (house no. 642), director of Aqabit Elementary school, was detained on February 9/1993 on a charge of "disappearing from the area for a while". He was taken to the area known as Teme Ber with four other prisoners (student Mengesha Tadesse,former government soldier Kindye Derese,Tsadik Mihret and Ato Wereta Dagnew) and all five were shot dead. Their corpses were discovered after six days and buried at the Asacha Mikael Church.

 3.Jeldesa Gulisa, a 10th grade student at Ade Gelecha district,Yabello, southern Ethiopia, was arrested by government police and shot dead.

 4. Gababo Rari: 2( years old, resident of Tsedim Kebelle, Yabello, 12th grade student was also detained by the police and killed.

 5.Bule Halake: 27 years old.12th grade student in Yabello,Borena zone.Was detained as he returned from the Teltele market and accused of violating the curfew. After seven days in prison he was taken to Afra, in Did Yabello kebelle and shot dead by government soldiers in April 27/1993.

 6. Alemu Rorisa: resident of Kebelle 03, Akaki Besequa area, father of 7 children and 42 years old. On the evening of July 3/1993, government soldiers broke into his home and shot him dead.

 7. Student Mesfin Gadisa, 18 years old, Keftegna 22, Kebelle 04, Addis Ababa, was killed by government soldiers in his district.

 8. Student Mulugeta Birega, 16 years old, same district as above, was killed by government police near his home on August 31/1993.

 9. Zewdu Yimer: 22 years old, resident of Kebelle 22 (house no. 1034), Addis Ababa, was detained  by the police near the Merkato (New Market area) and shot dead near the area called "Somali tera", December 1994.

10.  Captain Guto Atomsa: resident of Ambo town, detained by government agents on February 12/1994, was taken out at night and executed inside the storehouse of the Grain Corporation.

11. Student Tsegaye  Adera: 18 years old, Keftegna 21, Kebelle 14, house no 249, Addis Ababa, was summarily shot dead by a government soldier on February 12/1994. 

12. Lieutenant Samuel Mosisa: resident of Nkemo town (Wellega), was killed in Kebelle 07 by government soldiers on March 13/1994. 

13. Abraham Bazezew: 20 years old (keftegna 10,kebelle 22, house no 360,Addis Ababa) was shot dead by government soldiers as he walked home back from work on April 24/1994. 

14. Amha Tefera:22 years old, resident of Degemo, Western Shoa, was returning from Addis Ababa where he had been visiting relatives when he was detained by the local police on suspicion of being "with rebels". Detained for five days he was then taken, on July 17/1994 to the area known as Toke/ Daliti district/ and executed summarily by the police. 

15. Biruk Kebede: resident of Deder town,Eastern Hararghe zone (Webera province) was shot dead by government police near his home and taken to the Dill Chora Hospital in Dire Dawa. He died five days later (May 7/1994) from his wounds. 

16. Yonas Yirga: 20 years old, resident of Dessie (Keftegna 1,Kebelle 01, house no 175), Wello, was detained by police of the Dessie First Police Station on February 9/1995 and tortured the whole night by his interrogators before he died from the torture on February 13. 

17. Student Sinbad Lethem, resident of Sherman Dubach district (Hadaka zone), 20 years old, was detained by the order of the Hosanna district official  on March 7/1995 and tortured for three days till he died. 

18. Samuel Asia: a 47 years old resident of Addis Ababa (Keftegna 20, Kebelle 40), was forcefully taken from his home on May 27/1995        by four government security men (driving a Toyota DX car, license plate no. 26AA 09151). On May 29, the relatives were told that the corpse of Ato Samuel could be found at the St. Paulo's Hospital.

 19. Captain Cerium Lemma, resident of Shinto town, Wellega, was shot dead on April 7/1996 by government security men. Captain Cerium was hit on the head and chest as he was about to enter his house.

 20. Tay Belts: a 26 years old resident of Addis Ababa (Keftegna 17, Kebelle 20) was shot dead by government soldiers at a place called "Bole Ayer Ambo" as he was walking home on April 1ç/1996.

 21. Hank Yucatan: 25 years old of Nero town (Kebelle 01,House no 0034), Wellega, was picked up from his home (March 15/1996) by the government police and detained  at the Bubo Gamble army camp till April 27. On this day, he was taken to a place called "Mummies Fogies" and executed by government soldiers. 

22. Student Solomon Aroma Haile: a 17 years old student, resident of Kebelle 12 ,Addis Ababa, house no 12, was standing outside his home with his two friends (students Ere Testate and Ababa Yuma) when policemen of Wereda 2 station arrived at the place. The police ordered all of them to "stay put". A policeman then pulled out a pistol and shot into the air and the youngsters fled. At a place called Me Reba Digit in Wereda 2, Kebelle 13, the police shot dead and wounded Solomon Aroma and Ere Testate. Solomon was taken to the Black Lion Hospital and succumbed four days later (February 6/1995) from his wound. The policeman who shot at and killed Solomon was never charged and still works in Wereda 14, Addis Ababa.
