September 13,1999 YET ANOTHER ETHIOPIAN DIES IN DJIBOUTI'S PRISON Reports reaching SOCEPP reveal that WONDAYE HABTE MARIAM, a common law prisoner held in Djibouti's Gabode prison, has died from lack of medial are. He died on August 29, the reports reveal. He is one of the many Ethiopian prisoners who have died in the infamous Gabode prison. Condemned to a six months' prison term, he had served four. Wondaye was taken to the prison clinic on August 27 and the doctors called for his immediate hospitalization which was denied. The death of Wondaye brings to 23 the number of Ethiopian prisoners who have died in the jibouti prison, for lack of medical care, since 1995. The EPRDF embassy not only refuses to take up the case of Ethiopians but collides with the Djibouti authorities to have Ethiopian political and common law prisoners treated in a bad way. Please write to the Djibouti authorities calling on them to treat Ethiopian prisoners with all due respect to their rights. SOCEPP
